I love cities, large and small. I love how they look. I love their cloistered and cobbled streets, the way they wrap around and blanket me. I love their overwhelming skylines; the way they cradle and crush the human scale. I love the hustle and bustle of a busy street, and the comfort of a quiet neighborhood. Most of all, I love the life that is in a city, the concentration of all that is human and human-made.
Below are photographs of some of my favorite cities. They were not taken by me; I just happened to run across them and fall in love. When possible, the original source of the image is shown as a tooltip.
